Burn off those Easter Weekend Calories!

Easter weekend provides us with the opportunity to kick back, relax and spend some quality time with our friends and family, even if it entails eating a chocolate egg or two (or three!). Although Easter may not have the same calorific pitfalls as Christmas, it’s still not the best news for our waistlines, and all the extra treats will mean some extra training.

The average Easter egg contains just over 500 calories, but if you include other treats such as Hot Cross Buns, Easter bread, and biscuits, you’re looking at more than 1000 calories extra per day, and that’s definitely going to take some burning off!

But what’s the best way to shed those extra calories you’ve consumed this Easter? Is it by walking around the neighborhood? Or by spending hours in the gym grinding away? No. Cycling is the most effective way to burn off those extra calories, shed the weight you’ve picked up over the weekend and improve your overall health.

    Who doesn’t love a Lindt Gold Bunny for Easter? The medium-sized Lindt Gold Bunny comes in at 200g, and is packed with 1,100 calories! Eat two and you have consumed your recommended calorie intake for the day!

    To burn this Lindt Bunny off, you’ll have to ride non-stop for 3 hrs 40 minutes.

  3. Hot Cross BunsAlways a firm favourite at Easter time. The average Hot Cross Bun is 195 calories. With butter, 231 calories.Time in the saddle to burn one of these off: 46 minutes of hard training.
  4. Ferrero Rocher

    Boxes of 3 or 16 or more, Ferrero Rocher chocolates are sheer decadence. Just one of these is 74 calories, and let’s not kid ourselves that we’ll be eating more than one of these this weekend! Enjoy 10 minutes in the saddle PER Ferrero Rocher you’ve munched!

  5. Woolies All Butter Shortbread Biscuits


    Golden brown, irresistibly buttery, how could you not indulge in a few of these this weekend?

    71 calories per biscuit, means 14 minutes training per every one you’ve munched!
